For
readers writing to the author or to one of her heroines:
Please accept my apologies
for my failure to update this web site in several years. There are many
reasons for this. However, your letters have been getting through, and
each and every one is read and is greatly appreciated.
I thank you for taking the time to write
to me, to Mayada, or to Sultana. If you are requesting assistance with
a school project, I will do my best to answer your e-mail. If you are
writing with reaction comments, good or bad, and your letter does not
require a response, you will probably not hear back. Although it would
be lovely to send a personal thanks to each of you, with over 300
e-mails a week, it has become impossible to write a personal response to
each letter.
Also, often times writers fail to include
an e-mail address, making it impossible for me to response. This
happens frequently, in fact.
I thought you’d like an update on what is
happening:
Mayada is doing wonderfully, as are her
two beautiful children. She is working hard at her real love, working
as a journalist for a newspaper in the Middle East. Of course, she is extremely sad about the current conditions in
Iraq, and like everyone who cares
about that country, is wishing for peace to come to the citizens.
Iraqis have borne enough heartache for a million lives!
The princess is happier than ever. Her
son has married and she has her first grandchild. One of her daughters
is engaged. Another daughter is living abroad, and is working on her
education and career. The princess is still active regarding women’s
rights issues, helping many individual women.
My next true life story: LOVE IN A TORN
LAND: Joanna of Kurdistan, will be released March, 2007. I hope you’ll
get the chance to read it.
As for me, I recently moved back to the
Middle East as I am extremely
happy in this part of the world. The occasional visit simply wasn’t
enough for me. I’ll update you later on many other details but for now,
I must sign off. It’s after midnight and tomorrow is another busy day.
I wish you all every good thing…
